What is Flodesk?
Flodesk is a Creator email platform founded in 2019, headquartered in the United States. What is Flodesk?
Flodesk launched in 2019, built by Rebecca Shostak, Martha Bitar and Trong Dong after Y Combinator turned them down, and it has taken no outside capital since. The company says it was profitable within weeks of launch, and it passed $36 million in annual recurring revenue while staying entirely bootstrapped. Shostak became chief executive in January 2026, with Bitar moving to executive chair.
The product aims at the design-led end of the market: photographers, coaches, course sellers and small studios who want an email that looks art-directed without hiring a designer. The editor is block-based, with custom fonts, image shapes, countdown timers and polls, and Flodesk Checkout sells digital products, courses and memberships through Stripe. On those sales Flodesk takes no platform fee at all, so the seller pays only Stripe’s processing cost, which is unusual among email tools that have added commerce.
One thing nearly every older comparison still gets wrong: the flat rate is gone. Flodesk built its reputation on a single price for unlimited subscribers, and retired it for new members on 2 December 2025. Pricing is now tiered by active subscriber count across Lite, Pro and Everything, with sends still uncapped and pre-December customers grandfathered on the old plan.
There is no SMTP relay and no send endpoint. The API manages subscribers, segments and workflows only.
