Selzy has launched an MCP server that connects AI assistants to a Selzy account, so a user can build segments, prepare emails, run pre-send checks and launch campaigns from a chat. The company announced it on 20 October 2026 and says it is available on all Selzy plans.

Selzy joins a growing list of email platforms exposing their accounts through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard that lets assistants such as Claude call external tools. What sets this launch apart is how far it goes: the assistant can send a real campaign, with a confirmation step in the chat before anything leaves the account.

Key facts

  • Announced: 20 October 2026, on the Selzy blog
  • Tools: 56, covering contacts, segments, emails, checks, sending and reporting
  • Clients: tested with Claude and Claude Code; works with apps that support custom MCP connections
  • Server URL: https://mcp.selzy.com/mcp
  • Availability: all Selzy plans
  • Safeguard: each send is confirmed in the chat and goes through Selzy's standard moderation

What the Selzy MCP server can do

Selzy groups the 56 tools into four jobs:

  • Build an audience: find or import contacts and create segments with the supported filters. Selzy's example is a request for subscribers who opened an email in the last 30 days but did not click in the last 60, saved as a segment.
  • Prepare the email: create or edit an email, start from a saved template, or copy a previous newsletter and update selected sections.
  • Check and launch: run a spam check, count recipients, send a test email, and check the sender address and remaining sending capacity. The user then confirms an immediate send, schedules the campaign, or opens it in the Selzy editor.
  • Review performance: compare campaign results and look at contact-level engagement from campaign history.

Selzy's feature page adds that the assistant can preview a contact import before adding the data, validate a campaign before sending, and cancel scheduled campaigns. It also notes that the exact tool list may change as the server is updated.

What stays in the Selzy interface

Some tasks are not available through MCP: building automations, uploading files directly, creating forms and landing pages, and setting up A/B tests. Only one Selzy project can be connected at a time; to work on another project, you disconnect the current one and connect the next.

How to connect it

Selzy describes a three-step setup that needs no code in supported clients. First, pick an AI assistant or app that supports MCP connections. Second, add the Selzy server URL, https://mcp.selzy.com/mcp, to that assistant, authorise the connection to your Selzy account and review the tools and permissions it requests. Third, start giving instructions in plain language. Selzy publishes a separate setup guide for marketers who want step-by-step instructions, and suggests keeping one chat per project when you manage several.

How the safeguards work

Letting an assistant send email raises an obvious question: what stops a wrong prompt from mailing the whole list? Selzy describes several controls:

  • sensitive actions require an explicit confirmation in the chat;
  • campaigns go through a dry run and validation before sending;
  • campaigns remain subject to Selzy's standard moderation and account checks;
  • scheduled sends can be cancelled before they start;
  • the connection can be revoked at any time, and the assistant only reaches account data it is permitted to access.

The numbers Selzy shared

In Selzy's internal tests, preparing a segmented campaign from an existing newsletter took five minutes with MCP, against 20 minutes by hand. Selzy also reports that about 1.65% of emails sent on its platform from 1 January to mid-October 2026 went to segmented audiences; the company notes this is a share of emails, not a share of customers using segmentation.

Marketing Director Andrew Dyuzhov framed the launch around small business owners who handle every newsletter themselves: "We want owners to spend their time deciding which customers to reach and what to offer them."

A wider shift to MCP among email platforms

Selzy is not alone. GetResponse and MailerLite have both announced MCP servers of their own. For senders, the practical effect is the same across these tools: campaign work moves into the assistant, and the quality of the list and the segment logic matters more than ever, because a single prompt can now reach the send button.

What it means for senders

What changes

Selzy users can now build segments, prepare campaigns, run spam checks and send email from an AI assistant such as Claude, with a confirmation step before each send. Segmentation that used to take several screens becomes a single plain-language request.

Who is affected

Selzy customers on any plan, in particular small teams and solo owners who run their own newsletters, and anyone comparing email platforms on AI and MCP support.

When

Available now. Selzy announced the server on 20 October 2026.

Action checklist

  • Read the tool permissions when you authorise the connection, and connect the project you actually mean to work on.
  • Review every send confirmation carefully: check the segment, the recipient count and the sender address before you confirm.
  • Send a test email first and use the built-in spam check before any live campaign.
  • Clean the list before you segment, so that fast segment creation does not just reach invalid or inactive addresses faster.
  • Revoke the connection when a project or an assistant is no longer in use.
