Most of our alternatives pages end by naming the reader who should stay. This one cannot. Benchmark Email scores 5.7 overall in our database, with deliverability at 5.0 — inside our Low band — automation at 4.5 and pricing value at 5.5. Every one of the six alternatives below beats it on all three of those, and five of the six also beat it on support. That is not a normal result, and it is the reason this page reads the way it does.
We scored and priced 6 alternatives against Benchmark’s current plans, ranked by our internal score, and matched each to the specific kind of Benchmark user it wins for. This is not a “top 50” listicle. Benchmark’s Pro plan is $19/mo at 1,000 contacts, and two platforms below do the same job for $9 while scoring three full points higher overall.
One reason dominates, and it is the one you cannot fix from your side of the account.
Deliverability. Benchmark sits at 5.0, which puts it in our Low band along with SendGrid and Omnisend. Every alternative on this page scores higher, and three of them — MailerLite, Moosend and GetResponse — are at 8.0, in our High band. Templates, segments and send times are all things you control. Which inboxes accept the sending infrastructure is not, and it is the one column where a lower score costs you revenue rather than convenience.
What the bill buys. Pricing value at 5.5 against a Pro plan of $19/mo at 1,000 contacts is the second problem. Brevo and Moosend both start at $9/mo, and MailerLite charges the same $19 while scoring 8.0 for value against Benchmark’s 5.5. Automation at 4.5 is the third: only EmailOctopus, which is deliberately minimal, scores lower on this page.
The free plan is the one thing worth keeping in view. Benchmark gives 500 contacts and 2,500 emails a month at no cost, which is a real product rather than a trial. Sender and EmailOctopus both give roughly five times that runway free, so even the free tier is not the argument it once was.

Scores are SMTPedia overall ratings out of 10, taken from each platform’s own review, never recalculated for this comparison. Deliverability bands: High 8.0 and above, Medium 6.0 to 7.9, Low below. Benchmark Email for reference: overall 5.7, deliverability 5.0, automation 4.5, value 5.5, support 6.0. Prices are month-to-month, not annual.
Brevo bundles a CRM and transactional sending into the same account, where Benchmark is an email tool and nothing more. It bills emails sent rather than contacts stored, keeps up to 100,000 contacts on the free tier at 300 emails a day, and opens paid at $9/mo. It is the highest-scoring platform on this page at 7.7, and the only one with an official MCP server.
$9/mo
Starter, 5,000 emails
Then $29/mo at 20,000 emails, Business at $69/mo.

This is the cleanest like-for-like replacement on the page. Same drag-and-drop shape, same small-business audience, same $19/mo at 1,000 subscribers — and deliverability of 8.0 against Benchmark’s 5.0, which is the single largest gap on this page. Value is 8.0 against 5.5 and support 8.0 against 6.0.
$19/mo
Growing Business, 1,000 subscribers
Then $33/mo at 2,500. Power tiers run $39 to $49/mo.

Sender’s free tier carries 2,500 subscribers and 15,000 emails a month with automation included — five times Benchmark’s contact allowance and six times its send allowance, at the same price of nothing. Automation scores 7.5 against Benchmark’s 4.5, the widest capability gap here, and paid opens at $11/mo for 5,000 subscribers.
$11/mo
Standard, 5,000 subscribers
Then $22/mo at 10,000. The free tier includes automation, which is unusual at this price.

Benchmark meters sending at ten times your contact count. Moosend does not meter it at all — sending is unlimited on every paid tier — and it starts at $9/mo for 500 contacts, under half Benchmark’s Pro price. Deliverability of 8.0 puts it in our High band, and support at 8.5 is 2.5 points above Benchmark’s.
$9/mo
Pro, 500 contacts, unlimited sends
Annual billing brings it to $7/mo. The curve reaches $315/mo at 50,000 contacts.

If you only ever used Benchmark to write and send, this trades everything you did not use for the two scores that matter to you: support at 9.0, the highest on this page, and pricing value at 8.5. The free tier runs 2,500 subscribers and 10,000 emails a month, four times Benchmark’s send allowance, and paid opens at $20/mo.
$20/mo
Pro, 2,500 subscribers
Then $31.50/mo at 5,000 and $44.50/mo at 10,000. The free tier carries EmailOctopus branding.

GetResponse charges the same $19/mo at 1,000 contacts that Benchmark does, and includes a website builder, landing pages and conversion funnels in the same account; webinars sit on a higher paid tier. Deliverability is 8.0 against Benchmark’s 5.0, and the free plan matches Benchmark’s exactly at 500 contacts and 2,500 emails, so there is no free-tier penalty for switching.
$19/mo
Entry plan, 1,000 contacts, month-to-month
Free plan is 500 contacts and 2,500 emails a month. Higher tiers add automation depth and webinars.

The list moves easily. The two things that decide whether the move works are the forms and the warm-up.
What transfers. Contacts, custom fields and unsubscribe status export as CSV and import on every platform here. Lists map to groups, segments or tags depending on the destination. What does not come with them is your send history and engagement data, so write down how your active-subscriber segments are defined before you close the account.
What breaks. Sign-up forms and landing pages are rebuilt everywhere, and every embed on your site has to be swapped on the same day you switch — an old Benchmark form left live is the most common way a migration silently loses a month of new subscribers. Automations are rebuilt by hand, though at an automation score of 4.5 there is usually less to rebuild than people expect.
The warm-up is the part specific to this move. Because Benchmark sits at 5.0 for deliverability, a list that has been sending from it may carry weak engagement history into the new platform. Send to your most recently engaged contacts first and widen over two or three sends rather than mailing the whole list on day one. Sender, EmailOctopus and GetResponse all have free tiers large enough to run that warm-up in parallel before you cancel anything.
One, and it is narrow: a list under 500 contacts sending under 2,500 emails a month fits the free plan, and free is hard to beat. Even then, Sender gives 2,500 subscribers and 15,000 emails free with automation included, so the argument is inertia rather than value. Every alternative on this page scores higher overall than Benchmark’s 5.7.
MailerLite, Moosend and GetResponse, all at 8.0 against Benchmark’s 5.0 and all in our High band. Brevo at 7.5 and EmailOctopus at 7.0 improve it without reaching that band. Sender does not fix it — at 5.5 it is still Low, which is why its block says so in full.
Brevo and Moosend, both $9/mo, against Benchmark’s $19/mo at 1,000 contacts. If free is the requirement, Sender carries 2,500 subscribers and 15,000 emails a month at no cost, and EmailOctopus 2,500 subscribers and 10,000 emails.
Not directly — automations are rebuilt by hand on every platform on this page. The good news is the scale of the job: Benchmark scores 4.5 for automation, so most accounts have a welcome sequence and little else. Sender at 7.5 and Moosend at 6.5 will let you build more than you had.
Only through the forms. Export unsubscribe status with the addresses so suppressions carry over, then rebuild and swap every embedded form before you cancel. The list itself imports intact everywhere on this page.
