Benchmark Email is an Email marketing platform founded in 2004, headquartered in the United States. Pricing: Free · paid from $19/mo. It targets Non-profits, schools and associations sending a monthly newsletter to a stable list. Our verdict: Phone and live-chat support at a tier where rivals offer neither. Watch for: Inbox placement is the top complaint on both G2 and Capterra. Rated 5.7/10 overall across ease of use, deliverability, and pricing value.
Benchmark Email was founded in 2004 by Curt Keller in Los Alamitos, California, under the name Benchmark Internet Group, and grew without outside funding. Its 2019 merger with the St. Louis CRM vendor Hatchbuck moved control east; the parent today is Polaris Software, which also owns BenchmarkONE and Contacts+.
Localisation is the real differentiator: nine interface and support languages, and a separate Japanese company, Benchmark Japan KK, running its own Tokyo office. The trade-off is that nothing sends programmatically — there is no SMTP relay on any plan, and the API can build and duplicate a campaign but cannot schedule or send it.
