Alice.it email now runs on TIM Mail infrastructure

Alice was the consumer ADSL brand of Telecom Italia, later consolidated under the TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile) brand as the group unified its mobile and fixed offerings. The @alice.it consumer email service was migrated to the TIM Mail platform and continues to work today as a legacy alias alongside @tim.it and @tin.it. Alice mailboxes use non-standard ports (143 IMAP StartTLS and 587 SMTP StartTLS, not 993/465 SSL), use the exact configuration below.

What happened to the Alice brand

Alice was launched by Telecom Italia (the Italian incumbent telecom operator) as its consumer ADSL brand, offering residential broadband access and bundled @alice.it email addresses. Alice became the dominant Italian consumer broadband brand through the 2000s alongside the historical @tin.it Telecom Italia consumer identity.

Telecom Italia progressively consolidated its consumer brands under the TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile) identity, retiring the Alice commercial brand while preserving the @alice.it mail domain on the TIM Mail infrastructure.
