MessageGears is a Warehouse-native engagement platform founded in 2011, headquartered in the United States. Pricing: Not published. It targets Enterprise brands with a data warehouse and a SQL-capable marketing ops team. Our verdict: Queries your own Snowflake or BigQuery directly, so customer data never leaves your firewall. Watch for: A split with no winner selection, no staging environment, and an Email Policy last revised in September 2012. Rated 5.8/10 overall across ease of use, deliverability, and pricing value.
MessageGears was founded in 2011 in Atlanta by Dan Roy and Taylor Jones, raised $62 million led by Long Ridge Equity Partners in December 2022, and bought the mobile messaging company Swrve a month later. It sells only to large consumer brands and publishes no price.
Its architecture is the argument. Campaign segmentation executes inside the customer’s own data warehouse, on Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery or Redshift, and only the fields needed to personalise a given message pass to the MessageGears cloud. No copy of the customer database is held on the vendor side, so MessageGears never becomes the system of record.
